The Artist is an automatic universal record translator interface between the Station Traffic and Automation systems. The Artist application provides an interface to all television traffic systems that generate a simple formatted text file. It is completely configurable with a "fill-in-the-blanks" interactive user interface that makes it easy to convert playlists from any traffic system into the event records used by Argus. The Artist has pre-built interfaces for the most common traffic systems, including BIAS, Columbine, Enterprise, Wide Orbit, ProTrack and the widely used Florical Standard. Creating a bidirectional interface to a custom traffic system can be achieved in less than an hour by almost anyone in a TV facility, including the traffic manager, the operations manager, the accounting manager, or others. The automation as-run logs are returned to the traffic system by Artist, and used for billing reconciliation. This is a feature usually only found in the most feature-rich and expensive TV automation systems. The Artist provides two outputs: one for the primary automation, and one for the backup automation or a backup video server with built-in playlist capability. There are four definitions of field columnar position and length for all files coming into and leaving Artist. In addition, there are text boxes for describing the file names, the contents of any special first and last events within the playlists or logs, the formats for dates and times, and special code conversions for commands and triggers. |
